Acadia National Park - Desert, Maine

Welcome to the enchanting Acadia National Park!

Nestled along the rugged coastline of Maine, Acadia has long been a bucket list park for me.
Wandering through the park feels like stepping into a living painting – seriously! From the iconic Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse to the wild beauty of Sand Beach, every corner tells a story of nature's artistry. The carriage roads, a legacy of John D. Rockefeller Jr., offer a unique way to explore the park's interior, winding through forests, over stone bridges, and along serene lakes. Hiking enjoy trails like the Precipice Trail and the Jordan Pond Path - they provide a perfect balance of challenge and scenic rewards. As you ascend Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on the East Coast, the panoramic views will leave you in awe. I did not get to catch a sunrise there, but so many folks were sharing their sunrise stories. I need to go back!
Acadia was established in 1919 as Lafayette National Park, it underwent a name change to Acadia in 1929, paying homage to the former French colony of Acadia, which once covered parts of what is now Maine. Over a century later, Acadia remains a timeless beauty of coastal Maine. Acadia is not just about the outdoors; it's a living history book. The history of the Wabanaki Native Americans, the early French explorers, and the philanthropic endeavors of Rockefeller are woven into its fabric.
So, whether you're taking in the crashing waves against the rocks, basking in a tranquil breeze at a scenic lookout, or enjoying a tour through the whispering woods, Acadia offers an irresistible blend of adventure and serenity.
If you do not have Acadia on your “list” – I surely hope you change your mind. If you have visited, I would love to hear about your favorite memory of Acadia.
