Fun Fact: Did you know that Longpool got its name from the "long pool" stretch of the beautiful Big Piney Creek that runs through it?

On Monday afternoon I canceled a few meetings and took the opportunity to get the kids off devices and have some fun. We traveled just a bit north to Longpool Recreation Area. 

Nestled amid the breathtaking Ozark Mountains, Longpool has been a cherished destination for generations. Its story dates back to the early 1900s when the area was first recognized for its natural beauty and tranquil waters, making it an ideal spot for recreation.

Long Pool Recreation Area lies along beautiful Big Piney Creek and offers visitors a variety of recreational opportunities: camping, picnicking, swimming, canoeing, fishing and hiking. Big Piney, a nationally designated a Scenic and Recreational River, offers visitors a variety of recreational experiences. A large natural pool, steep rock bluffs, and captivating forests are just a few examples of the natural beauty surrounding this recreation area.

Over the years, Longpool has witnessed countless picnics, fishing trips, and joyful gatherings of families and friends. The surrounding lush forests provide a picturesque backdrop for unforgettable adventures and wildlife encounters.

We got to swim and play around for 3 hours or so before we were tuckered out and hungry. The kids seemed pretty happy to spend an afternoon enjoying Arkansas' outdoors. They did ask for device time while I made dinner... of course.
